Take the Purple Pledge

I Choose People Over Parties

I am done with Red vs Blue. It is a distraction from how we should treat our neighbors and how the government should treat its people and our world.

I am Committed to Change

Change is not easy. It is a lifelong commitment. We can do it: together.

I am Becoming an Independent Thinker

Every day we choose who we are becoming. I choose to stop believing the lies of the two big corporate parties and choose to learn.

I Apologize

I tell those I hurt with my words and actions I am sorry. I will tell them about my new pledge and new commitments. Following through builds trust between us.

I Ask for Help

I am a human with needs. These times have many of us feeling out of our depth. We are learning to ask for help to fill in the gaps in our understanding.

I Pray for Peace

I would rather have peace and prosperity for all than be right. I am more committed to community than I am to ideology. Let’s work together for peace.

Who am I?

I am an Ex-Democrat. Now an Independent.

I grew up within the party, dreamed of voting for them when I turned 18 and I BELIEVED THEM with all my heart.

  • We have all felt heartbreak and hurt.
  • We have all had to face cognitive dissonance and wake up to the lies of the two-party system.
  • We can choose to vote independently of party and instead vote for people: for good reps and for the good of our neighbors and for the good of people we don’t even know and will never meet.

No More “Lesser of Two Evils”

  • I can forgive voters who were led astray across the political spectrum: including myself. I know there are politicians across the spectrum who have misled us all.
  • I can show up and be a good neighbor.
  • I can speak my truth and vote my truth: I am allowed to be moral, not vote for the lesser evil.

Who are you?

You are interested in a different way forward.

You might already be an independent or you may have recently left behind a party that you BELIEVED IN with all your heart. You may have heard something about the “purple revolution” that brought you here.

Why Wolves?

We are stronger united. Without our pack, we cannot win. With our pack, we cannot fail.

Asters grow all over North America and symbolize how many people coming together (the petals) around a central goal (the flower’s heart) can create something beautiful and resilient and prosperous.

Why is there no signup page?

Because we are completely de-centralized. No cults here!

This is as grassroots as it gets:

We are united by a belief that the two-party lies have bled us dry. We can look upon each other with hope and camaraderie. We make each other safe.

Start a Purple Chapter in your town:

Call together people of different faiths, different political beliefs and different skills. Bring in experts from minority groups to represent their insider knowledge. Listen. Learn. Grow Together. Build Faith in each other where the System has failed you. Make these ideas suit your unique needs and welcome change as each new person joins us with their unique ideas and experiences.

Signal Your Camaraderie in Purple:

Wear purple, wear wolf shirts and hats, plant sunflowers or purple asters, invite your neighbors over for a purple BBQ this July 4th or just because. Vote together. Volunteer for a people-led campaign together. Do disaster preparedness together. Start new traditions, put a spin on old ones. Have interesting conversations in trust that everyone wearing purple is done with the BS too. And we need to find a way together.

Fear Not Your Neighbors:

Fear not your immigrant neighbor, your veteran neighbor, your queer neighbor, your disabled neighbor, your black, white, brown, asian, native american, african, european neighbor, the young, the elderly, the poor or the broken-hearted. Assess your capacity to be a support to others and ask for help when you need it. The power of “left vs right” thrives on us being afraid of each other. Fight like a pack and win together. It takes all colors, shapes, sizes, backgrounds and experiences to win. Nobody is trash: we all bring unique gifts. THERE WILL BE CHALLENGES. But disagreements between us are nothing compared to the all-out-war that is being waged against the American people today. We must learn to be resilient and open-minded and pass these skills on to the next generations.

Make Rules for Safety:

Protect the vulnerable among you from predators and predatory thinking: anyone who sells themself as your savior is selling something you don’t need. Anyone who preys upon others needs accountability. Anyone who has been victimized deserves justice. Put in place common sense protections for the bodies and minds of participants. Meet needs and abilities.

Food for Thought

Questions to share with others.

Who benefits when we fear each other? When we fear our fellow Americans and even other people around the world?

What feels irreconcilable between us as voters and neighbors? What would it look like to reconcile those differences?

What do you hope life will be like for future generations in this country and all around the world?

How would you like politicians who represent you to comport themselves? What do you want to see in their behaviors, policies and character? (Not the bare minimum! Dream big!)

What will be your new metric or markers for a ‘good’ or ‘great’ representative? What will your community feel like and look like with their leadership?

What problems are most concerning you? Which politically neutral expert opinions can help us answer or solve them?

What does “enough” mean to you? What does “prosperity” mean to you?

What have you never dared to dream?

What have they told you is impossible?

Why do they want you to think it is impossible?

Who benefits when you are hopeless?

Who benefits when you are full of hope and purpose?

How can we take one small step closer today?

Create the nation you believe in. United, for All.
